- Get The Family
Moving
-
- Making better food choices
will help your family s health and
control their weight, but its only
half the story. All Australians need to
increase their activity levels. You and
your children need exercise! You
cant however, tell your
children to exercise. A do as I say,
not as I do approach simply
wont work.
-
- Research shows that if you
as a parent lead an active life, your
children are more likely to be active,
and if your children are active from a
young age, they are more likely to remain
active as adults. Children dont
need to have set exercise programs, but
they do need to engage in some form of
activity that raises the heart rate for a
period of time several times a week.
-
- Start by setting
guidelines for the number of hours your
children can play computer games and
watch television and stick to
these rules yourself! Youll find
you will all be looking for other things
to do. By being active as a whole family
you can enjoy more benefits than just
becoming healthier - it's a great way to
spend time together and have fun!
-
- Encourage family
activities and along with the new healthy
eating habits, the whole family will keep
fit and trim.
